Through two relocations and displacement related to gentrification, two things have remained the same at The Barbeque Pit: owner Ed “Pookey” Whitfield’s resilience and his carefully crafted recipes for darn good barbeque. The Barbeque Pit has long been a Seattle staple since initially opening in 2010 and has earned features in Seattle Met and Seattle Eater as some of the best barbeque in the city. Now, Pookey is back and better than ever at his new location on Yesler Way after reopening in July 2020. Have a seat at the wooden tables Pookey crafted himself, and enjoy The Barbeque Pit’s fall-off-the-bone ribs slathered in sweet and tangy barbeque sauce, juicy pulled pork sandwiches, smoky rib tips, and more traditional barbeque favorites.
