Meet Ximena Juarez, co-owner of Dalior Aesthetics with her husband, Edgar Juarez, in Bellevue, Washington. Ximena and Edgar named their business after the national flowers of their home countries — the dahlia from Mexico, where Edgar is from, and the orchid from Columbia where Ximena is from. Dalior Aesthetics offers advanced and diverse skincare treatments and services and brings a different idea to self care — one that goes beyond your average facial. Ximena makes a point to carefully tailor her services to each client because she understands how life changing it can be to love the skin they’re in.

Fun fact: Ximena is a Navy veteran and served for four years before opening her business!

Get to know more about Ximena and the work she does at Dalior Aesthetics in this week’s Business Spotlight Q&A.

The interview has been edited for length and clarity.

What’s your favorite part about the community your business is in and why?
I’m so passionate about what I do. My favorite part is when people come to us and they’re in the treatment room, and they’re vulnerable. They are exposing themselves to us, talking to us about what they don’t like about their skin. So, what I like the most is the trust that they put in us. They are willing to try things out, they are looking for more advanced solutions for their skin. We have so much power in our hands to be able to change their skin, and when we change their skin, we change their lives. And that’s probably one of the most gratifying things about what we do at work.

As a business owner, what’s the strangest or craziest idea you’ve ever tried?
This was something that was born with the pandemic. I was trying to think outside the box because I am a service-based business, so we were shut down for three months. I quickly had to rethink how we were doing things. How can I help my clients at home? With this pandemic, a lot of people are still not coming in and a lot of my clients are still being super careful. So, I designed a set of classes I teach via Zoom. These are facial yoga, facial massage classes with acupressure. It’s a live class so people actually get to do the movements with me and get to ask questions. And within these classes I have infused some skincare tips and diet tips, because with skincare it’s a whole body approach.

Why is it important to you and your business that people #SpendLikeItMatters?
It is important because I think it’s what keeps our economy going. It’s what keeps our neighborhoods growing. If we support one another in the area we are at, we can grow together. So, I do think it’s very important to spend like it matters. I also think as a business owner, there is so much work we put in. Every time you buy something from a small business, you really do make a difference. Call it a baked good, an ice cream — call it a facial in my case. You make a difference.
