Aleppo Sweets

After fleeing their home in Aleppo, Youssef Akhtarini and his family were granted refugee status in Providence, RI. Youssef and his family have rebuilt their lives honoring their Syrian roots the best way they know how — through their food.  Holding tightly to his dreams, in 2019 Youssef opened his bakery, Aleppo Sweets, and serves traditional baklava alongside traditional Syrian dishes.

Pro tip: Try the kabobs and the za’atar, they’re amazing.
