Bronze
Bronze blends together fantasy and cuisine, offering a unique Afrofuturistic dining experience. Owner Keem Hughley designed the restaurant around his own science-fiction story, that of African-born mythical traveler Alonzo Bronze who traveled around the globe searching for new cultures to learn from and trade with. The restaurant’s sleek interior is designed to transport diners into Hughley’s narrative, featuring wall-illustrations that depict important characters.Â
Bronze’s global-inspired menu draws from African and Caribbean cuisines, featuring dishes like wild pepper pawns with grilled chives and red cabbage and braised oxtail with pappardelle, butter beans, and dashi kombu. The bar menu boasts creative cocktails and an extensive, carefully curated wine list. Â
Fun Fact: Afrofuturism, a cultural aesthetic that explores the intersection of the African Diasporic culture with science and technology, is associated with the works of Octavia Butler, Samuel R. Delaney, and Jean-Michel Basquiat.Â
