Aravind Namasivayam opened Madhuri Mess in 2024 to bring the bold, authentic flavors of his hometown, Madurai, Tamil Nadu, to the Seattle area. After over a decade in the restaurant industry, he saw a gap: real South Indian cuisine prepared the traditional way. At Madhuri Mess, every biryani is made with authentic Seeraga Samba rice, just like back home. The Ambur Chicken Biryani and Basha Mutton Biryani have become local favorites. But Aravind also pushes boundaries—Madhurai Mess is the first in Seattle to serve signature dishes like banana leaf-wrapped Chicken Elai Parotta and Clay Pot Parotta, blending heritage with innovation. Excellent service, authentic cuisines, and just about as friendly as a place can get.
