Mandela Grocery Coop

This West Oakland grocery co-op re-imagines the contemporary supermarket experience. As a conscious alternative, they provide a store that’s grounded in a community-centered mission. With goals to provide access to nutrient dense foods and support local business owners, Mandela Grocery Coop sources from local farmers and food purveyors, largely POC-owned and run.

Fun fact: Their operations are inspired by the rich organizing history of the West Oakland area, a history that includes the Brotherhood of the Sleeping Car Porters and the Black Panther Party!
