Mirisata
Mirisata is Portland’s first Sri Lankan restaurant, offering flavorful, authentic dishes like vegetable kottu, parippu vade, and fried rice. The best part? Everything is 100% vegan! The restaurant, which began as a pop-up before graduating to its permanent Belmont location in 2020, is a worker-owned cooperative with seven members: Rochelle, Alex, Padhma, Ihan, Theo, Tharaka, and Jesi.
Pair your meal with one of their local beer offerings or a classic Sri Lankan iced coffee with sweetened condensed coconut milk, cardamom, cloves, and a drizzle of chocolate syrup. And make sure to leave some room for dessert, because you won’t want to miss out on their watalappan, a deliciously creamy coconut milk custard.
Fun fact: Their logo isn’t a chicken – it’s the Sri Lankan Jungle Fowl, the country’s national bird!Â
