Rod and Diona Brady opened Serious Soul at Cubby’s in 2014, three years after the building’s previous occupant Cubby’s shut down. In addition to offering the Cubby’s staple, burgers and fries, Rod and Diona’s menu is known for its wide array of made-from-scratch comfort food and living up to the slogan “And you thought mamas was good.” Other American staples you’ll find at Serious Soul include fried chicken, mac and cheese, and red beans and rice. You’ll also want to try the perfectly cooked catfish, the hush puppies dipped in honey, and Diona’s famous red snapper.
