Shades Of Afrika – Long Beach

In 1994, Renee Quarles opened the doors to her store Shades of Afrika in Long Beach to celebrate Black culture and heritage. In the many years since, Shades of Afrika has evolved from just a retail store to to a place where people come together to teach, learn, give, and be given to. They offer books, beauty products, custom framing, art, collectibles, and wood carvings from around the world. In addition, Shades of Afrika’s Long Beach location also houses a natural hair salon, Natural Kinx & Waves.
