Tailor Kowis and Courtney C. Johnson, two career cheesemongers, opened Street Cheese in 2020 to support local producers, to honor the work of the people and animals from which cheese comes, to tell the story behind every cheese, and to make cheese less intimidating and more accessible to every person who approaches their cheese counter. What began with $500 and custom platters during the 2020 holidays grew into a mobile cheese business dedicated to supporting local producers first and offering high-quality artisanal products. Street Cheese sells cheese and fine accompaniments including charcuterie, pickles, preserves, crackers, and chocolates. They craft custom cheese and charcuterie plates, platters, and grazing tables, and offer educational pairing classes and tastings with brewery and restaurant partners—believing food builds community and empathetic education empowers curious eaters.
