Jaafar Altameemi and Murat Akyuz opened TOASTED Bagels & Coffee in July 2024 to bring Mediterranean-inspired bagels and the spirit of home to Seattle. As first-generation immigrants—Murat from Istanbul and Jaafar from Iraq—they created a halal bagel shop that blends Turkish and Mediterranean flavors with Seattle creativity, serving fresh handcrafted bagels, specialty coffee, and signature sandwiches like the Taste of Istanbul and Smoked ‘Cado. More than food, TOASTED embodies community, generosity, and hospitality, partnering with local nonprofits to fight food insecurity and raising thousands for Seattle causes while creating a place that feels human.
