  • ChuMinh Tofu is all about spreading love, one vegan banh mi sandwich, one bowl of soup, one egg roll at a time ❤️

As part of our @seattlerestaurantweek celebration, we spoke with Thanh-Nga Nguyen about her family’s business, from its beginning in Vietnam to the mutual aid work they lead in Seattle’s Chinatown-International District.

The message Thanh-Nga & @chuminhtofu want to share? To view those experiencing homelessness or addiction as family, and take care of one another with love and compassion.

We loved spending time with Milen at her Rainier Beach coffee shop and restaurant, learning about how her business has provided a welcoming space for the community one jebena at a time.

Come for the coffee (roasted in-house and available for sale), be sure to enjoy the vegan combo, and consider contributing to the @seattlerestaurantweek Give A Meal program.

  • 🌼 Pan de Muerto season has arrived.

This traditional “Bread of the Dead” is baked in celebration of Día de Muertos, a time to honor loved ones who’ve passed. It’s lightly sweet, often flavored with orange zest or anise, and usually topped with bone-shaped dough pieces symbolizing the cycle of life and death … a reminder that remembrance can be joyful, too.

Swipe to find your favorite loaf (and maybe a few conchas or tamales too) at:
🥖 Mendoza’s Mexican Mercado
🥖 Pasteleria Y Panaderia La Ideal
🥖 Salvadorean Bakery and Restaurant
🥖 Pasteleria Y Panaderia Las Delicias
🥖 Golden Wheat Bakery
🥖 Pan de la Selva

Small businesses are our superheroes ❤️

We know that the moment we publish this post it will be out of date, because small business owners continue to step up and care for the community.

Please add to the list in the comments below, and we’ll put together a blog that we can update as we learn about new offers and efforts.

Be sure to check individual business websites / social media for details regarding free meals, food drives & more.

To celebrate @seattlerestaurantweek, the Intentionalist team is dining and donating at Give A Meal participating businesses.

We are also donating to Rootstock Northwest by Local Yokels as we know that some folks aren’t able to make it out to food banks and storefronts. Rootstock Northwest delivers throughout King County.

🌼 Pan de Muerto season has arrived.
