Byen Bakeri means “Town Bakery” in Norwegian, and it evokes the feeling of the delightful, cozy family-owned bakeries of Scandinavia. If you’re craving a lovely artisan bread or pastry, or need a cake for a special occasion, Byen Bakeri is your place! The neighborhood bakery has been open since 2013, but has been under the ownership of Rachel Antalek and Larry Walsh since 2018. Formerly the Vice President of Concept Innovation for Starbucks, Rachel was enticed to purchase Byen Bakeri because she was a huge fan of their baguettes. Now, the two have embraced the “hygge” philosophy that serves as the backbone of the cafe, and continues to serve as an inviting gathering place for locals.
