Chili’s South Indian Cuisine was originally opened as a dollar store by Vairavasamy “Sam” Arumugan in 1993. Over the years the store evolved — with the help of Sam’s daughter Anila Swamy and her delicious cooking — into a mini-mart, a deli, and finally, beloved South Indian restaurant. Now Anila and Sam serve dosas, vadas, sambar, and more, including many South Indian dishes that are hard to find in Seattle.
