Local designer and urban farmer Rica Sunga-KwanChurn started Urban Creamery as a pop-up shop in 2016 and moved on to open her brick-in-mortar in San Francisco’s Portola District in 2019. Fusing her love of food sourcing and dessert, Rica draws inspiration for her eggless ice cream from world travels and nature, incorporating flavors such as Horchata, Matcha and Salted Pretzel Caramel into her frozen treats. Customers also swear by “The Local Special,” which features beans from nearby Andytown Coffee Roasters.

Fun Fact: When the coronavirus pandemic started, Rica began selling farm bags and essential items like toilet paper, with proceeds benefiting farmers and local community members.
