Enjoy California-inspired Mexican cuisine Cielo Rojo, a family-friendly, fast-casual restaurant in the heart of Takoma Park, MD. Owners and spouses Carolina McCandless and David Perez met while working at a San Francisco Mexican restaurant in 2012. After moving to the East Coast to be closer to family, the pair decided it was time to open a spot of their own, a place where family and friends could gather and create lasting memories over delicious food. The name Cielo Rojo, which translates to “red sky,” references one of McCandless and Perez’s favorite mariachi songs and their shared love of sunsets.

Cielo Rojo’s menu offers plenty of vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options, so there’s something for everyone. Tuck into a plate of nopales tacos stuffed with grilled cactus, cashew cream, and pico de gallo, or enjoy a bowl of pozole verde, a tomatillo-based hominy stew served with tostadas. Pair your meal with a refreshing spicy jalapeno basil margarita or one of their non-alcoholic, housemade agua frescas.

Bonus: Stop by for Taco Tuesday and enjoy a taco platter and $8 dollar margarita, served from 11:30AM to 3PM.
