Owners Yannick Benjamin and George Gallego opened Contento in the summer of 2021 in the heart of East Harlem, New York. The philosophy behind their restaurant with a Peruvian-inspired menu is simple: “make sure you leave the doors open behind you, so you won’t be the last.”

Contento was built for and by individuals with disabilities. There are QR codes for menus to be read out, adaptive flatware by request, bar heights for individuals in wheelchairs, wide entrances, and everything all on one level.
