Cottontail is a cozy bar, speakeasy, and event space in Belltown, Seattle. Its owner, Jessica Gifford, is a name that might sound familiar. Her other businesses include some of Seattle’s favorite cocktail bars: Bathtub Gin & Co., Lava Lounge, and Rabbit Hole. For now, the business operates out of the back half of the space (enter in the alleyway), but plans are in place to open up the front for a larger cafe community workspace by day and event space by night.

Although Cottontail is new to Seattle’s bar scene, it operates out of one of the oldest buildings in the area, built in 1924, with a rich history. Most notably, the space was home to Seattle’s iconic laundry mat/watering hole/cafe/music venue, Sit & Spin. Sit & Spin was at the heart of Seattle’s music scene in the 90s and early 2000s, with music greats like The White Stripes, Modest Mouse, and even Macklemore before he went as Macklemore. To continue the legacy, Cottontail prioritizes local artists, from the live entertainment that gets booked to the artwork adorning the walls.
