Vaness Vu grew up in the Czech Republic eating German kebabs. When she moved to the U.S. in 2010 she couldn’t find anything authentic here, so she opened Doner Box alongside her sister-in-law Mai Dzip in 2019 to bring the German Doner style kebab — different from Turkish or Mediterranean kebabs — to Seattle. Vaness and Mai believes that even fast food should be fresh food, a belief you can taste in their unique recipes stuffed with high quality ingredients. Customers say the perfectly spiced kebabs are some of the best in Belltown.
