With a 76 year history in D.C., Florida Avenue Grill has long been a soul food staple for the city. Founded in 1944, current owner Imar Hutchins took over in 2005, careful to make very few changes and maintain Florida Avenue Grill’s charm. Its popularity extends beyond the District, drawing in celebrities, politicians, and was even featured on the Travel channel’s Bizarre Foods, showcasing their chitterlings (pig intestines). Regardless of whether chitterlings are your jam, the menu also includes soul food classics like fried chicken, pork ribs, pig’s feet, and more.

Fun fact: Florida Avenue Grill has appeared in film as a part of the set of the comedy film D.C. Cab.
