Karin Walker opened FoxFire Salon and Spa in 1984 to create a space where she could do great hair alongside her friends in a beautiful environment. She was 26 years old when she secured the financing, with her parents putting up their home as collateral so she could build out her first location. What started as one salon has grown into two Tacoma-area locations, one in the heart of the Proctor District, and another in Fircrest. FoxFire is a full-service Aveda salon offering haircuts, color, skin care, nails, waxing, makeup, and lashes for men and women. The salon has been recognized among the top 200 salons in the country by Salon Today and has earned multiple Best Salon in Tacoma awards from South Sound Magazine.
