Gay’s the Word

In 1979 a group of gay socialists set up Gay’s the Word as a community space where all profits were funneled back into the business. Now, three members of staff, Jim MacSweeney, Uli Lenart, and Erica Gillingham, continue to keep the shelves bursting with books and the space used for book and community events. The store has a wide range of fiction, poetry, history, biography, queer studies, graphic & young adult novels as well as badges, DVDs, t-shirts and posters
