When father and son team Joe Whinney and Henry Whinney saw space in the historic “GIFT SHOP” building on Seventh and King become available — and heard an out of state chain was planning on moving in — they decided to create something special instead with Gift Shop Seattle. Joseph and Henry wanted to create a place where artists and makers have license and leeway to try out new ideas and connect with the community, and customers can grab a craft-roasted espresso or a bottle of natural wine while waiting for a takeout order.
