In 1994, immigrants Fernando Lopez and his wife, Maria Monterrubio opened Guelaguetza, one of the first restaurants in Los Angeles to focus on the authentic dishes of Oaxaca, including six types of mole. Today, their children, Bricia, Paulina, Fernando and Elizabeth carry on the incredible success of the family’s culinary tradition.
