Established in 1992 and now a restaurant, deli, and cafe—Habesha Cafe (previously Amy’s Merkato) is also Seattle’s first Ethiopian Market. In 2000, Filli Abdulkadir and Yodit Seyoum took over when Amy returned to Ethiopia. Today, the restaurant serves traditional Ethiopian and Eritrean food as well as a variety of breakfast and lunch options. Habesha Cafe Eritrean & Ethiopian Restaurant, Deli & Sweet Shop also sells a curated variety of spices, coffee, and Injera.
