Hilltop Urban Gardens

Long-time social justice organizer Dean Jackson opened the community-based urban agriculture, justice, and equity organization Hilltop Urban Gardens, or Hug, in 2010. Dean and his team grow vegetables, herbs, and fruit to distribute in a community food-share program. They believe in food justice, the idea that everyone deserves access and the ability to produce and distribute fresh, affordable, healthy, clean, sustainable, safe, and culturally appropriate food. Their mission is to develop systems for food sovereignty and their vision is communities that take care of each other.
