Lisa Malinovskaya grew up in Moscow, and the name of the bar she co-owns with Kendall Murphy was inspired by a childhood nickname. Korochka Tavern opened in 2016 in Lake City as a comfy bar with Russian-inspired decor, serving craft cocktails along with Russian bites like handmade pelmeni (dumplings) and piroshki. After their lease was not renewed, Lisa and Kendall relocated their bar in the Wallingford, with support from the community via a crowdfunding campaign.
