When Melody Stein was turned away from a culinary academy for being deaf, she responded by mastering the art of making Neapolitan pizza and opening her own restaurant, Mozzeria. With the help of her husband and co-founder, Russ Stein, the deaf duo created an operation with an entirely deaf staff. Since then, Mozzeria has been guided by appointed CEO Ryan Maliszewski, evolved into a San Francisco food truck, and opened a second location in DC.
At Mozzeria, customers place their orders by signing, pointing, or writing their order. Melody and her staff know the community loves the food by the smiles on their faces!
