Nong’s Khao Man Gai in Portland, Oregon started with Nong Poonsukwattana’s dream to open a restaurant when she first emigrated from Thailand. With just two suitcases and close to nothing in her pockets, she worked at various restaurants until she was able to buy her own food truck.
With plenty of ambition and a simple yet delicious dish of rice and chicken known as Khao Man Gai, Nong made a lasting impression on the Portland food scene. After years of popularity, Nong’s restaurants have become a must-visit spot for locals and newcomers alike.
