First established in 1938, the Phoenix Bakery is a bakery owned and operated by the Chan family. Their humble beginnings in LA’s Chinatown began as a space for the community to enjoy Chinese baked goods that were hard to find in the city. As they grew, they added wedding and celebration cakes, and their locally-famous Strawberry Whipped Cream Cake. Eventually, they were able to custom-build a larger bakery just around the corner to expand production and offer a wider selection.

Now, over 80 years since its first opening, many of the owner’s kids and grandkids have taken up roles at the bakery, continuing its family-run legacy. Their baked goods have been enjoyed by Dodgers and Lakers players, multiple Los Angeles mayors, celebrity chefs, and more.
