Coté Soerens’ neighborhood coffee shop is all about resisting gentrification and creating community, especially for the Latinx community in South Park. Co-owned with her husband Tim, Resistencia Coffee pours delicious espresso drinks, hosts local events, supports local artists, and serves up local eats.

Recommendations:

  1. This is an amazing family friendly business in the neighborhood. I love that they have a child play section! The staff are super friendly and they are not only selling products of their own but also local small business owners (who may not have a store front).

  2. Resistencia offers another community cafe vibe similar to The Station in Beacon Hill. It’s near the Flight Museum (en route if you’re coming from the south or west). They offer a varied selection of espresso drinks and teas, but what’s kept me coming back are the empanadas and pasteles from Mariela. I appreciate that Resistencia offers its space to other LatinX producers in our community, showcasing their work in one shared space.
