Sandlot Southeast is a 5,000-square-foot, outdoor container bar and event space offering cold-pressed cocktails & grab-and-go meals with a side of sports, music, cultural arts, and entertainment. The project’s inspiration originated in 2018 when friends Ian Callender and Kevin Hallums, both D.C. natives, wanted to commemorate the 25th anniversary of one of their favorite movies, “The Sandlot.” The goal is to reclaim vacant, abandoned, blighted, and unused lots and convert them into active cultural facilities that welcome genuine community engagement through the same creative economy that helps neighborhoods thrive.
