When the original owners, Stephanie Crocker and John McCaig, opened Sugar Bakery & Cafe in 2006, all they wanted to do was explore their passion for pastry. But what they didn’t expect was the tight-knit community of customers and employees they would create along the way. Everyone who walked in their doors were guaranteed to enjoy a good meal, laugh, and connect with one another. Since Stephanie and John retired in 2016, current owners Quynh “Queenie” La Walton and Matthew Walton have been working hard to carry on their passion for pastry and community. Just ask the customers who’ve left smiling after ordering a gorgeous custom cake or simply had a conversation with Queenie herself.

No matter your pastry preference or breakfast bias, Sugar Bakery & Cafe has got you covered. They offer next-level breakfast sammies, savory sandwiches on a freshly-baked baguette, cinnamon brioche buns, lavender shortbread, pink champagne cake — I mean, what are you waiting for? Let Sugar Bakery & Cafe welcome you with open arms.

Bonus: check out their Queen Anne location near the Seattle Center!

  1. Sugar Bakery is so delicious! When I worked on First Hill, I would stop by at least once per week. Make sure to their jam scones, they are perfection!
