Chef Taichi Kitamura and Steve Tamura opened Sushi Kappo Tamura in 2010, showcasing seasonal ingredients of the Pacific Northwest using authentic Japanese preparation. The sushi restaurant is a Kappo-style restaurant where the food is prepped in an open kitchen and served to guests immediately and the atmosphere is friendly and lively. Sushi Kappo Tamura also sources its ingredients from local farms and fisheries like Taylor Shellfish, Skagit River Ranch, and Wild West and has a rooftop garden in partnership with Seattle Urban Farm Company that provides some of the produce for the restaurant’s dishes. Their goal? Create lasting relationships with local producers and be a leader for environmental stewardship in the restaurant industry.

Recommendations:

  1. Sushi Kappo Tamura is one of my favorite places to eat a special brunch. The menu is so delicious and quite reasonably priced for such high-quality ingredients. Be sure to try the yuzu panna cotta–amazing!

  2. Sushi Kappo Tamura is one of the best sushi spots in Seattle! Not only do they have incredible and rare fish, they care about sustainability. They know where fish comes from and the impact on the environment. I love so much of the food here:

    Starters:
    – the seaweed salad is not your usual heavily sauced green seaweed. It’s hearty and nutritious and awesome.
    – I love the hamachi collar
    – Miso soup that has delicious kombucha squash

    Sushi wise
    – Trust Taichi and Matt…and go omakase. They will always hook you up with flavors, quality, and experience that is unmatched.
    – I always want more salmon roe, seabream, uni…all of it!

I love to sit at the sushi counter, grab a Nikka Negroni and have an incredible night.

  3. Sushi Kappo Tamura is one of the best High End Sushi restaurants in town! And to throw in the sustainability ideology behind their menu choices…..its a no brainer!

Check out the Iced Green Tea and variations…so unique… and goood!
