Enjoy a taste of southern Mexico at Taqueria Casa Mixteca, a Burien hidden gem specializing in Oaxacan and Pueblan-inspired cuisine. Owner Julio Vasquez Jr. has run the cozy restaurant with his family since 2017, using age-old traditional recipes and fresh ingredients to craft their delicious dishes.

Enjoy a delicious plate of mole negro, chicken bathed in a traditional Oaxacan mole made with spicy chili and high-cacao chocolate, or molotes, corn-based fried pastries stuffed with mashed potato and chorizo and served with black beans, sour cream, cilantro, and fresh cheese. If you’re feeling adventurous, try the chapulines, toasted and seasoned grasshoppers on a bed of tomatoes.

Bonus: Casa Mixteca also offers a souvenir shop selling cooking equipment and other culinary items!
