Rosanne Zhu and Chris Tanghe opened Upwell Wine & Coffee in 2024 to bring West Seattle a neighborhood spot with something good to eat and drink at any hour of the day. Zhu is a certified sommelier and trained chef with stints at Gramercy Tavern and The Peninsula Chicago, and Tanghe holds the rare title of Master Sommelier. By day it’s a coffee shop with house-made pastries and a savory-leaning menu. By late afternoon it shifts into a wine bar with 15+ wines by the glass, vermouth cocktails, and a seasonal dinner menu. They share the space with Walter’s Wine Shop, where you can grab a bottle to go or catch weekly Tasting Tuesdays.
