Ken and Thoungsoun Khanphonphanh opened Viengthong Lao Restaurant in 1992, partially named after the capital of Laos (Vientiane) and partially named after Thoungsoun and her father. Thoungsoun has loved to from a young age and through her restaurant she has been able to share Lao food to communities who may have never had the opportunity to try it. Viengthong is a Thai-Lao restaurant, which Ken and Thoungsoun say allows more people to have food they are familiar with.

Pro-tip: Nam Kao, a deep fried rice dish, or Sai oua, classic Lao sausage, are a perfect choice for Lao first timers.
