Violet Valley Bookstore

Jaime Harker spent seven years writing The Lesbian South about the resilience, compassion, and hilarity of Southern queers. Her research writing the book showed her how many lesbian feminists also ran feminists bookstores and printshops, which inspired her to do the same. In 2017, she opened Violet Valley Bookstore. Jaime’s mission is to make feminist, queer, multicultural books available to the Water Valley community. Readings and other programs at Violet Valley support diverse voices in Mississippi. The bookstore features new and used books so that everyone can afford to have books.
