Crystal Wahpepah, founder of Wahpepah’s Kitchen restaurant and catering and member of the Kickapoo nation of Oklahoma, reclaims Native ancestral recipes and sovereignty through food. Crystal’s love for Native American food began as a child growing up in a multi-tribal, tight-knit, urban Native community on Ohlone land in Oakland, CA. She created an all-Native American menu for the Native community and beyond to eat dishes passed on for hundreds of years. Visit her restaurant, or try Wahpepah’s catering for delicious and authentic bison blue corn and cranberry wild rice turkey meatballs, fresh salmon cakes, and more.

Fun fact: Crystal received the Indigenous Artist Activist Award and has been inducted into the Native American Almanac for being one of the first Native American women to own a catering business!
