Wild Side West

In 1962, the Wild Side West was opened by out lesbians Pat Ramseyer and Nancy White. When they opened, neither women considered it a lesbian bar but because it was owned by lesbians, queer women came and felt safe. The bar is still lesbian owned, now in the hands of Billie Hayes, a long time friend of the bar’s “moms.” The Wild Side West has continued to build up its signature art-covered walls, ceiling, and outdoor sculpture garden. The art pieces have changed and grown organically over the years, and you will always see something new or different around.
