SpendLikeItMatters at Asian American Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islanders (AANHPI) owned businesses as part of your AANHPI Heritage Month 2023 celebration!
AANHPI Heritage Month is an opportunity to celebrate the diverse cultures, traditions, and histories of AANHPI communities and to acknowledge the challenges and discrimination they have faced throughout history. This month serves as a reminder of the important role that AANHPI communities have played and continues to play in shaping American society and culture.
To create our AANHPI Heritage Month design, we worked with Seattle-based artist Toka Valu, who was inspired by the many journeys Pasifika people have traveled in search of opportunities.
“This piece represents the many journeys Pasifika people have traveled in search of opportunities. Stylistically, the illustration is inspired by Tongan ngatu (traditional Tongan bark cloth) mark-making hence the bits of “paint” bleeding outside the lines. The shoppers are dressed in Tongan Sunday best, the young man in more traditional attire, and the young woman in more contemporary though her dress print shows she is still very grounded in her cultural roots. The patterns behind the shoppers have specific names each embodying the values we share as a Pasifika community helping us keep our cultures alive and thriving wherever we are. Collectively, these pattern motifs stretch far into a distant past that helps guide our journey toward the future especially in that of small business ownership by Pasifika communities thereby enriching the cultural fabric of the Pacific NW.”
We’ve teamed up with Seattle Mariners, Seattle Storm, Seattle Sounders FC, OL Reign, Seattle Seahawks, and Seattle Kraken to encourage fans and friends to explore and #SpendLikeItMatters in support of the AANHPI-owned small businesses at the heart of our communities.

When I click to select JUST the restaurant category, there are no pins on the map or on the list. I’ve tried multiple times.
Apologies for the inconvenience – it should be fixed now!
