Take your taste buds on a journey around the world at Souk, a globally-inspired market and bakery nestled on Barracks Row. Owner Winnette McIntosh Ambrose, who also runs award-winning boutique bakery The Sweet Lobby over on Capitol Hill, loves to travel. She found inspiration for Souk in the global markets she visited around the world.
With a selection of over 200 spices stocked from around the world, Souk2 is a haven for flavor enthusiasts. From ajwain seeds to Chinese Szechuan pepper salt, you’re sure to find whatever you need to perfect your dish.
Be sure to pick up a selection of their in-house crafted baked goods– you won’t want to skip their signature Spice Buns, coming in flavors like spinach-feta and pear-brie. Pair your pastry with a cup of coffee or a latte brewed with beans supplied locally by Vigilante Coffee Company
Fun fact: Before she turned to baking, Ambrose worked as an engineer developing medical devices at the National Institute of Health!
