Lunar new year seattle

February 12th marks the beginning of Lunar New Year — a time of celebration as we enter into the first new moon of the lunar calendar and the Year of the Ox.

Cultures across Asia typically celebrate Lunar New Year with traditional dances, family celebrations, fireworks, and more. Though festivities will look different this year, many small businesses are doing their part to safely ring in the new year.

Chinatown communities and Asian-owned small businesses in particular have been hit hard by the pandemic. With a rise in anti-Asian racism linked to the virus, it’s more important than ever to support the AAPI-owned local businesses that add to the vibrant culture of our communities.
